Welcome to The Giving Space. These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of our website, services, and platform (collectively, the “Platform”). By using The Giving Space, you agree to be bound by these Terms.
If you do not agree to these Terms, please do not use the Platform.
1. About The Giving Space
The Giving Space is a platform that connects individuals with nonprofits and registered charities in Canada. We help users discover organizations aligned with their values and facilitate donations and volunteer engagement.
2. Eligibility
You must be at least 13 years old to use The Giving Space. By using the Platform, you confirm that you meet this requirement.
3. User Accounts
- Provide accurate and complete information.
- Keep your login credentials secure.
- Notify us immediately of any unauthorized use of your account.
You are responsible for all activity under your account.
4. Use of the Platform
You agree to use The Giving Space in accordance with all applicable laws and these Terms. You may not:
- Use the platform for unlawful or fraudulent purposes.
- Impersonate others or misrepresent your affiliation.
- Attempt to interfere with the platform’s security, operations, or functionality.
- Use automated means (e.g., bots or scrapers) without our permission.
5. Donations
- All donations are processed securely by third-party providers (e.g., Stripe).
- The Giving Space does not issue official charitable tax receipts.
- We take a small percentage of each donation to support operations.
- Your data is only shared with nonprofits you choose to support.
Refunds are not guaranteed and are reviewed on a case-by-case basis.
6. Volunteer Opportunities
Volunteer opportunities are provided by third-party organizations. We are not responsible for:
- The accuracy of their information.
- The outcomes or experiences of volunteer engagements.
We encourage you to contact organizations directly before committing.
7. Nonprofit and Charity Listings
Organizations listed on The Giving Space must be:
- Registered charities in Canada, or
- Nonprofits operating in good faith for public benefit.
We reserve the right to remove listings that violate our guidelines.
8. Intellectual Property
All content on the Platform — including logos, designs, text, and software — is owned by or licensed to The Giving Space. You may not use, reproduce, or distribute any content without our written consent.
9. Termination
We may suspend or terminate your access if we believe you’ve violated these Terms or applicable laws.
10. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, The Giving Space is not liable for:
- Indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages.
- Loss of data, revenue, or goodwill.
- Issues arising from your interactions with organizations on the platform.
The Platform is provided “as is” and you use it at your own risk.
11. Privacy
Your use of the Platform is also governed by our Privacy Policy.
12. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify users via the Platform or email. Continued use means you accept the new Terms.
13. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of British Columbia and Canada. Disputes will be resolved in the courts of Vancouver, BC.
